Dulux paint factory in Mickleham is set to be the very latest State of the art coating plant and the largest in Australasia. Colt Australia was first approached by a mechanical contractor for the Dulux project to assist with early concept design and budget costs for the future project. Seeking alternatives to the standard climate control systems on the market, the approach from our experienced Colt team was to offer our high-quality Coolstream system which was already known to the mechanical project team from a previously completed project.
Colt worked closely with the mechanical contractor and consultants to meet the critical design criteria. The initial Colt Climate Control Solution proposed, comprised of Cool stream Mk2 evaporative coolers, FCO Ventilators for inlet, along with Liberator smoke extract fans all connected to the BMS system.
During the design process, we found out through our Colt R&D team that the new Coolstream Mk3 was to be launched. The key advantage of this new model was the new Cortiva controls which could provide similar operating functionality as required from the Dulux project BMS. We worked with mechanical consultants advising them of the benefits of the new Coolstream system and incorporated Cortiva controls which offered all the client’s control function without the expense of implementing a full BMS system. The elimination of the BMS system alongside a clever integration of integral dampers resulted in additional savings on installation and electrical works. Colt Australia were proud to have worked alongside PJM Mechanical on the successful delivery of the climate and smoke control system for this project.
