Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre, Victoria

The Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) is an international sporting venue located in Albert Park, Victoria. The centre was opened in July 1997 hosting several swimming pools and international standard diving facilities. There is also a large multi-purpose sports hall used for sports such as badminton, basketball, table tennis, and volleyball, and also squash courts and a gym.

In 2002 it was announced that the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre would be expanded in time for the 2006 Commonwealth Games. Work began on the Stage 2 of the project in September 2003. The expansion opened in early 2006.

Colt provided 7m long, green anodized, Ellisse ellipsoid fins to help screen the car park whilst allowing sufficient daylight entry with maximum rain protection. Due to the immense 7m long spans, the fins are supported by stainless steel tie rods to prevent deflection.
