Presbyterian Ladies College, Burwood, Victoria

Presbyterian Ladies college is regarded as one of the finest private schools in Victoria. A new Learning Resource Centre extension was added to the existing school during 2012 which was constructed by APM Group.

Cox Architects designed a functional yet highly visual and prominent central screen, protecting the western facade by absorbing the suns radiant heat before it reaches the building. The screen spanned some 5m high and over 20m in length.

Highly energy efficient solution Low running and maintenance costs

Colt designed and installed a concertina, perforated metal screen, fixed in between steelwork in conjunction with flat perforated horizontal screens to provide sun shading to the western and northern facades. Both perforated screens had a 9.5mm perforation punched from 3.0mm aluminium which was then finished in a Duratec Metallic Bronze Pearl effect powder coating. Full engineering, 3D modelling and fabrication drawings were provided by Colt prior to manufacture.

Colt Universal Louvre type 1 UL /DH was also installed to provide screening for the plant room areas.
