Introduction
The Colt Sun Shelf is a fixed solar shading system designed to prevent solar heat gain and solar glare within buildings by using a simple external boxed shelf. The Colt Sun Shelf not only protects the facade from solar heat gain and glare but also creates functional architectural features due to its crisp, clean lines. Installed in either a vertical or horizontal configuration, or a combination of both, the Colt Sun Shelf is an effective way to reduce solar glare particularly on North facing buildings.
Standard Versions
There are three standard models:
The Colt Sun Shelf can be finished in natural anodised, polyester powdered coated or even perforated to provide maximum flexibility in building design. With a standard depth of 40mm, the Sun Shelf can be installed in lengths of up to 6m or with intermediate connectors for unlimited vertical or horizontal runs.
The Colt Sun Shelf can be supplied in two standard profiles. A flat square profile to create a clean crisp finish or an elliptical end profile depending on the architectural feature required and whilst lightweight, the Colt Sun Shelf is extremely rigid and strong and is extruded from 2mm aluminium therefore is capable of withstanding high wind loads.
The Colt Sun Shelf has been designed to make installation quick and easy. Rigid enough and light enough to connect straight into a window frame or building facade; or connection can be made via standard end cleats and supports with minimum fixings to the structure.
