Saint Ignatius' College is a Roman Catholic day and boarding school for boys, located in Riverview, a small suburb situated on the Lane Cove River on the Lower North Shore of Sydney.
Colt were asked to provide a solar shading and natural ventilation system for the library building of the college with the aim of increasing energy efficiency. Fixed horizontal and vertical trafficable Grata-Schermo combination sun shading systems were installed to provide reduced solar heat gain into the library space which in turn reduces the cooling requirement and the energy required to maintain comfort conditions for the students and teachers.
Coltlite LWS motorised glass louvres were also strategically positioned at floor and the top void level to provide a natural ventilation flow through dynamic whenever the library’s BMS system requires it. The Coltlite system opens and closes as the BMS logic demands to reduce energy consumption whilst providing ideal comfort conditions for the college students and teachers. An open position means, no artificial high energy air-conditioning is required – substituted by the cool, fresh and free ambient air. The end result – invigorating comfort at reduced energy consumption.
