Waurn Ponds Library, Victoria

Located just North of Geelong, approximate an hour from Melbourne CBD, the new Waurn Ponds Library & Community Hub was constructed by local builders, Lyons Construction.

This awarding winning Library, connected to all libraries within the City of Greater Geelong was designed by Melbourne architects Whitefield McQueen Irwin Alsop and has over 1000m2 of internal space, 16 public internet hubs, an outdoor reading courtyard and is home to over 20,000 reference items.

External custom perforated screen Motorised double glazed Coltlite Coltlites installed within the Waurn Ponds Library

The external custom perforated screen helps absorb solar heat gains while the motorised double glazed Coltlite LWN glazed ventilators with black powder coated aluminium frames and matching insect mesh are used for day to day ventilation and night time cooling to help reduce the running costs of the mechanical plant. Coltlites are installed on both levels, vertically into the external facade and are controlled by the central BMS system.

As well as day to day ventilation, Coltlites are also smoke control ventilators and are fully tested to EN12101 part 2 and are CE marked.
