The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) is the oldest hospital in Victoria, Australia, built prior to the gold rush era that led to a boom in Melbourne's population. RMH City Campus first begun as The Melbourne Hospital in 1848 and RMH Royal Park Campus as the Immigrants' Aid Society in 1853. The WEHI wing is a brand new building due to be completed by late 2010.
As part of the smoke control strategy, six electric motor Colt Seefire natural louvred smoke ventilators are being installed as terminal vents for the smoke and lift shafts. In the event of fire, the smoke spill fans below will start and the Colt Seefire CO ventilators will automatically open (on detection of fire alarm signal) to release smoke from the hospital.
